Voice and text with your friends, with push-to-talk that works even over fullscreen games.

Windows

Windows 10 and 11 · 64-bit

Installing

Run the installer. It installs just for you (no admin needed) and adds nutcord to the Start menu.

“Windows protected your PC”? nutcord isn't code-signed yet, so Windows doesn't recognise it. Click More info → Run anyway. You can check the file is genuine with its checksum below.

If nobody can hear you, check Settings → Privacy & security → Microphone → Let desktop apps access your microphone.

Linux

x86-64 · any recent distro

Installing

Ubuntu / Debian / Mint / Pop!_OS: use the .deb:

sudo apt install ./nutcord-*-linux-amd64.deb

Everything else (Arch, Fedora…): use the AppImage:

chmod +x nutcord-*.AppImage
./nutcord-*.AppImage

If it won't start, install FUSE 2: sudo pacman -S fuse2 (Arch) or sudo dnf install fuse-libs (Fedora).

First launch

The app connects to chat.nutcord.uk automatically. To create an account you need the signup code: ask whoever invited you.

Push-to-talk & screen sharing

Open Voice settings → Input mode, pick Push-to-talk or Push-to-mute and set a key. A mouse side button is perfect. It works while a game has focus.

To stream your game, click the screen button in the voice panel. Friends click LIVE next to your name to watch.

Linux on Wayland: Hyprland is set up automatically. On other compositors, bind your key's press to ~/.config/nutcord/nutcord-ptt press and its release to ~/.config/nutcord/nutcord-ptt release.

Private by design

Voice goes directly between you and your friends, end-to-end encrypted. Click someone in a voice channel to compare safety codes.
